About adding more merit source, some local boards and other general boards are very active with discussions and need merit source. For example, I don't see members getting merit on the altcoin discussion board, it's rare.
Well, I have no problems with that.
A merit is signal for effort.
Putting effort in the altcoin board is detrimental to the user.
Hence, better not to provide positive feedback loop on this.
I might be joking on this, but I am very close to the harsh truth.
I like to comment on some post in altcoin discussion board because I see some members coming to seek for opinion about an altcoin they feel interested to invest in, other members help them drop a comment of clarity which is a good opinion for OP.

Surprise... surprise...
DANGER: participation in shitcoin discussions may not result in the receipt of any merits, but also worse participation in shitcoin discussions may result in loss of funds and/or brain cells, too....
For the sake of greenhorns coming to seek for opinion on altcoin investment, there's still need to just keep visiting the board, you never know, you could save someone from making the worse mistake of their life. For example, I think I saw a thread on that altcoin discussion where a newbie was asking if they can invest on some altcoins and the newbie mention Trump token meanwhile the token have pumped already before dumping to $7. The discussion might not be interested but could help some newbie.

So there may indeed be a few informative, substantive posts being added to that section every day, but they are sandwiched between heaving loaves of shitposts, in shit topics about nothing, so nobody will ever seen them.
I believe you are right. I also think that not so many members on the forum are interested in altcoins anymore that's why the rate of good post and discussion depreciated very well now.
