chasing external validation and recognition only takes us further away from our true selves.
Unfortunately it's human nature, hardwired into our biology.
That
is our true selves.

Exactly, we are just created that way and it's not an inferiority complex but just a way to acknowledge the wisdom of others, that is why we seek validation and recognition from them. But however, even after getting a good conviction from others, it doesn't stop us from taking our own decisions if we don't find their opinion worthy enough.
The opinion of other people are not important in our life however one can't underestimate it because in one way or the other those opinions by others can help us understand more about our life or anything we are doing.
When people give there opinions about our life or anything we are doing is either we accept or reject it, what we do with our life is our full responsibility.
Yes you are right Btcdeybodi that after getting a good conviction from others, it doesn't stop us from taking our own decisions if we don't find their opinion worthy enough.
One that that some set of people do that is wrong is that they don't make there own decisions after other peoples opinion is given they just go with that opinion not minding if is wrong or right and that is not a good thing to do.
Some people has gone into depression because of other peoples bad opinion about there life which is not right we should not be taken the opinion of people in our life that serious is our life and we decide how it will be.
