We can all have a mix of thought about Everton's performance around this time of the season but on a neutral analysis of the results of their recent games it's not enough to say Everton have performed so well anyway. They have had series of draws with almost all the sides they have played with even in matches they should have won they ended drawing. Their win against Nottingham forest was just a narrow 0-1 win in a game Forest had a better performance but were just unlucky.

Everton I know has always had the attribute of inconsistency in the English Premier league. The only time they become serious and start beating big teams is when they want to escape relegation. But as at today, they are not fighting to escape relegation whereas Chelsea wants to go champions league. Everton was not good enough tonight, and I think Chelsea really deserved the win. Chelsea should have won by more than one goal if they had continued playing as they did before they scored, but unfortunately, having an early goal advantage made Chelsea tend to play defensive football. It's quite reasonable why they are being overly cautious and tried to maintain the lead until the last minute because 3 points are very important in the fight for a ticket to the UCL. Chelsea has now moved up to 4th place, but that could change if Newcastle can win against Ipswich.
