Now based on this, do you feel a casino is more likely to be careless with people's data than they will with money to hackers because most hacks seem to target money they have more?
Even if it's more logical for hackers to target a casino to steal its money than its customers' data, that doesn't mean that the casino is unaware of a possible doxs attack or their security is looser than the one they have for money. This is what I want to think and believe, at least for the top-tier casinos. People's data is precious and must be treated accordingly and ofc can't be replaced like money.
You are right, customers data can't be replaced like money can be replaced, or let's just say that once customers private data enters the hands of the wrong people, the casino can not undo this the way they can undo it when money is stolen from the casino..
We have seen incident where a casino or exchange gets hacked and lots of money stolen, the casino or exchange will decide to refund all the accounts that was affected by the hack, what this means is that the casino or exchange have choosen the bear the loss resulting from the hack, this they can do successfully and everything will be fine.
But now, imagine that the casino or exchange was hacked and customer's private data was stolen instead, how does the casino or exchange undo this? Even if they enter a negotiation with the hackers to return the stolen data, the hacker can likely make copies of the data before sending them back the platform, this is why it's very important for casinos or exchanges to secure there customer data at all cost, even much more than money.
