Although China's growth rate is high, it still lags behind the US. This may be because the US is the economic quarterback. China is making rapid progress in many areas such as artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, chips, but it is more dependent on imports than the US in many areas. This makes them more vulnerable.

Of course, China will not be able to surpass the US in the near future, but they have the potential to do so. That is why the US sees them as the biggest threat and Trump is looking for every way to stop their development.

They are the ones who have suffered the most in the trade war, but they will also adapt quickly. If you check, their exports to the US have dropped significantly compared to 4 years ago after trade war 1.0 broke out. In addition to being the world's factory, they are also the world's second largest consumer market thanks to their large population. They are boosting domestic consumption as well as diversifying into Asian markets...I believe that in the next decade, they will significantly reduce their dependence on the US market.

Meanwhile, whether the US can find cheap sources of imports and low-cost manufacturing supply chains to replace China remains a question.
China is a country with extremely strong domestic potential thanks to its rich and diverse resources, so adaptation is just a matter of time.

For China to become a global leader, economic size alone is not enough. The US's liberal democracy provided a model for many countries in the post Cold War era. China's authoritarian capitalism, on the other hand, is not one that many countries want to emulate. In terms of cultural imposition, China is far behind the US. Moreover, the US has very strong global alliances and China has no such advantage. China has the potential to overtake the US, but it faces many structural obstacles.

BRICS is still growing and more and more countries want to join, which shows that the world also wants to escape the dominance of the US and its allies.
