You are right in this observation because I also noticed that the coming of Donald Trump seems to have made them forget about that project.  I'm not surprised though because I don't expect country like China to be talking about BRICS when they are at the verge of losing their biggest market being the US due to tariff hike. This tariff war seems to have more effect and even immediate effect than anything else, hence the reason their are piping low on that BRICS arrangements.  What I also notice is that most of the members are working out their private relationship with the US and are not working together as a block.

Most of the news we know comes from social media, from mainstream newspapers. You haven't seen BRICS activity lately because the media is focused on hot news like the tariff war, the war with Ukraine and Russia...Moreover, you no longer see relevant news about BRICS because you are not interested and do not follow them. And that doesn't mean they are not active, if you observe, you will see that BRICS activities are still going on as usual.

By the way, don't think that the tariff war only negatively affects the economies of China and the BRICS. The US and close allies such as Canada, the EU...are also suffering significant damage. This world is a closely linked chain and every country depends on each other and needs each other to survive, not just revolving around one country.
