Arsenal hosted PSG at home in the Champions League semi-final first leg.Arsenal didn't play very well and lost in this match.PSG got an important away win with a goal scored by Ousmane Dembele in the 4th minute.PSG is likely to eliminate Arsenal with this advantageous score. I expected Arsenal to win against them, but I don't think they played the game they wanted to.With Liverpool already the champions in the league, they need to put all their focus here. This may be a troubling score, but it is not impossible to turn it around. They still have a chance to get through the round with a better game away.
PSG was the better team in that match and I don't expect Arsenal to win in France. Luis Enrique's side would have scored more goals if not that they were unlucky, and Arsenal also had a good goalkeeper in the name of David Raya. But the best goalkeeper in that game was Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Italian had five clean saves that would have been clear goals. When people say that Arsenal strikers were wasteful, they fail to see that PSG have a sound goalkeeper. But the second leg will not be easy because I think Arsenal will not be an easy team to win.
That’s a fair assessment. PSG definitely had the upper hand early on, and Donnarumma deserves massive credit—those saves were top-class and made the difference between a narrow win and a potentially wide-margin victory. Arsenal weren’t necessarily poor, but they lacked the finishing edge and didn’t adapt quickly after conceding.
However, I wouldn’t count them out just yet. The second leg in France will be tough, no doubt, but Arsenal have shown resilience before. If they can tighten their defense and be more clinical up front, especially with players like Martinelli and Ødegaard stepping up, they still have a shot. One early goal could shift the momentum and unsettle PSG. It's all still to play for.
