Manchester City 1 Vs Wolves 0
It's 60+ minutes and the goal from KDB in the 35th minutes separates the two sides for now. The game is actually not giving me the kind of intensity that I expected, Manchester City are just holding onto the ball as usual, playing around with the opponent but not making any serious threat. Wolves who has won their last 5 games will be dropping points today if eventually the game ends this way.
To be honest this dismal performance (from City) makes them look like Arsenal. Wolves should have scored at least 1 goal from their 3 scoring chances but luckily for City they couldn't. It looks like City will win today, but judging by the game Pep hasn't been able to fix anything yet - with such wretchedness he certainly won't be a contender for the title next year. Plus KDB will leave, plus it is unclear whether Rodri will be able to recover... apparently the "brilliant" Pep will spend another billion in the summer to avoid shame.
TBH, if Wolves were to be a bit more decisive and clinical in this match, Manchester City wouldn't have been bouncing home with a whole 3 points. As you also noticed, I expected Manchester city to be a little more aggressive in this match, but it seemed they already gave their best, and good enough, their best was able to win them 3 points. It would have been totally a sad story for Manchester City without a win today because the race to the top 5 is real and serious. With this win, Manchester City is more guaranteed the champions league slot than their counterparts like Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.
City got the job done, but let’s be honest – that was a dull one. One chance, one goal, and then it felt like the whole team just waited for the final whistle. Wolves played it way too safe, like a draw was all they came for. Still, with these three points, City pretty much sealed their Champions League spot. Now Pep can focus on rotating the squad and finishing the season strong.
