That's what I’ve been thinking lately because it seems really hard to win in gambling, no matter what game we're playing. In the long run, we still lose. So, I think this is our fate, instead of aiming for ultimate happiness through winning, which seems almost impossible, what’s achievable now is just making our bankroll last longer than expected.
So how about you? Are you happy with that, or are you ambitious enough to aim for a big win, and maybe long-term success?
I think many gamblers end up frustrated because they focus too much on "lucky breaks" or huge wins, without realizing that the real secret may lie in prolonging the fun and avoiding losses.
I also believe that it is much better to extend the experience than to try to force a big prize and end up emptying the bankroll quickly, because when we start to worry more about money management and less about the idea of getting rich overnight, the game becomes more sustainable and even more fun. In addition, this approach helps to avoid impulsive decisions, such as increasing bets after a sequence of losses... something that almost always ends badly for me.
On the other hand, I understand that some people are more ambitious and prefer to risk everything for a big prize and that's fine... everyone has their own style, right? But, thinking realistically, how many stories do we know of people who actually achieved long-term success by betting this way? It seems that most end up doing badly, while those who adopt a more conservative approach are able to enjoy the process more.
