For what happen sometimes it comes up on my mind that US made that tariff implementation as a trap so that they would force those country to come with them then have negotiations and also to follow their conditions ask. With this they can leave some statement that their country is strong and other nations should follow what they want.

Although this is just another crazy thoughts, but it seems like this is what actually happening especially that China is open to have a negotiation deal to sort out the problem regarding on this tariff they get from US.  But let see what's going to happen on their discussion since for sure China will not back off especially if they know that its unfair to them on what possible condition will be asked by US.
China has never been closed to it, China just said "either you do this, and I will do it too and deal with others" and that isn't a bad deal. They are just saying, if USA (trump) continued then they would just simply increase the tariffs too, and instead of selling to USA, they would sell to others. They may not make as much money, but Europe has nothing to do with China and willing to deal with them, so it wouldn't be terrible for them.

I am pretty sure they are going to end up with a much better future for them. This is why they are fine, but if USA ends up sitting on the negotiation table then we are going to see them do a lot better. This would only help both nations and we should not be seeing any downside for either, they should definitely do a deal.
