For what Ethereum Classic is still exists?
There are a lot of Ethereum killers now: Solana, Tron, Cardano... etc
Do they have a plan? How do they plan to compete with the progressive coins above?
Or are they just a slowly dying legacy? What's stopping them from dying and disappearing into oblivion?
I don't mind investing in ETC, but I want to hear arguments from the developers why I should buy this coin?
Yes. Ethereum Classic still exists. But it's not as popular as other coins. Demand for the cryptocurrency is at its lowest. This is not surprising, considering that most people prefer centralized "shitcoins" out of convenience. The Ethereum blockchain continues to remain in the top, despite moving away from decentralization (after the PoS upgrade). ETC represents Ethereum's original vision of a platform for decentralized applications with Turing-completeness (where code is law). It's the original, unforked ETH blockchain that remained intact after the 2016 "The DAO" hack. There were no rollbacks of any kind (unlike today's ETH).
I think ETC is better because not only it's a decentralized, PoW version of Ethereum, but it's also scarce by design. Developers added a supply hard cap of 210m ETC a while ago. Meanwhile, centralization continues to increase in ETH, as well as, the supply (inflation). If you buy ETC, you'd be doing it because you believe in decentralization. But if you're looking for profits, I'd suggest you look elsewhere. With healthy trading volume and blockchain activity, I don't expect Ethereum Classic to disappear anytime soon.
