As you probably know, red is the color of the Republican party and sadly the world seems to be drifting away from compromise and further apart to the extremes of policy. Democrats have made some missteps for sure and are maybe a bit soft in certain areas, but Republicans have morphed into a party of yes men who fear crossing their leader - there is no opposition or discussion, it is all diktats from the top. It's a sad state of affairs, especially are they have generally kept things on an even keel over the years with enough opposition existing to make sure nothing too extreme goes in. Now we have a situation where any crazy ideas that Trump comes up with is in action the next day (and usually rolled back a few days later when it's clearly a terrible idea). He does occasionally do something useful for Americans, but it's rarer than it should be.
