About
KONJUNGATE is based on the cyber novel MACHFELD, written in 1999 by Michael Mastrototaro.

Strangely, the main character of the book is called Nakomoto, resembling the pseudonym of Bitcoin’s inventor, Satoshi Nakamoto. Coincidence? Perhaps.

In his novel, Mastrototaro described the mining of KONJUNGATE — 9 years before Bitcoin appeared.

Now, over 20 years later, KONJUNGATE emerges as a Media Art project to decentralize funding for international contemporary artists and institutions — a strong artistic statement in times of budget cuts.

MACHFELD is materialized again — in the language of cryptography.
