Gunners are trophyless this season because they've failed in their fullest capacity to win matches and obtain greater heights in England. We should pour all blames on Mikel Arteta for his incompetent capacity? I don't think so because since his arrival as Gunners headcoach, he has done his best for the club to excel. Arsenal will go again next season, they will keep trying until they succeed in nailing important goals for the club. This season was a wonderful one for Gunners despite them been eliminated from all elite tournaments.
It's really very painful that for over 3 seasons, Arsenal will start very well in the Premier League but they only finish in the second position without a trophy and it's becoming worrisome because the last time i checked, Arsenal have a good squad with set of quality players, look at what they did to Real Madrid in the Champions League if not that they were eliminated by PSG, they would have been closer to the title but i doubt if Arsenal would have won the Champions League if they reach the final because this fear that causes them not to win a trophy could have still hindered them. Mikel Arteta should not be blamed for Arsenal's misfortune, he tried his best for the team. They should just try and do better next season and have a trophy mentality because if they have a trophy mentality it will help them to be relentless in their pursuit for a title.
Arteta is fully responsible for his team failure to win trophies in all competitions, although he cannot be blamed entirely, I think Arsenal deserve to find a better replacement. An experienced manager, who has been successful at domestic and European level, so that he can bring a winning mentality to the team depth. If not, next season Arsenal will finish in the runner up position again, and may not be able to reach the Champions League semifinals again.
Arsenal management should also recruit a center forward in the summer transfer market, to sharpen the front line so that they can increase their chances of winning every match. Arsenal often experience a decline when entering the final third of the season, they are prone to losing points, and have difficulty dealing with pressure, that's what Arsenal have been like in the last three seasons.
What's the major cause of the team declining in performance from Q4 of the season. It should be lack of sufficient players on the bench for rotation. If some players in the first eleven are injured or have dropped form, there should be a good replacement for that player. Sometimes, we overlook the fact that some players decline in form towards the end of the season while some pick form towards the end of the season.
