When I first started gambling around 2015, anonymous casinos and sportsbooks were the norm. Some of you might remember DirectBet - it was huge back then before eventually shutting down.
Now, the landscape has clearly shifted toward regulated platforms. Yet some anonymous options still exist. So I'm curious, where does the community stand today? Would you still choose anonymous casinos, or do you prefer sticking with regulated ones?
When crypto got more mainstream, a lot of people started using it. It also exponentially rose in value. As it got more attention, people started using it for means that are illegal by current law. Crypto transactions and crypto gambling put a large volume of money and gambling money out of tax. When the government feels its not being able to milk as much money as they could, they do everything to close that loopholes. So they made it compulsory for crypto based casinos to come and pay taxes and asks suspected users for KYC. If they don't, they'll come after them.
There still are a few onchain anonymous gambling sites that sprouts now and than but they are short lived either due to closure or requiring the users to do KYC.
