How can they both have visibility AND ensure their safety?
As said, you can be influential (but not the nowadays' "influencer") also anonymously. Then you are pretty much safe (but that anonymity has to be done properly). I think that Satoshi himself is one great example.
If you want (or have to) be visible, eg as CEO of a crypto company, then I guess that you have to pay for professional protection, for you and everybody important for you.
After all, if some risk it for a grandma's purse or some kid's necklace, what they can risk/do for millions they can so easily hide may easily go beyond imagination. Sadly.
The "middle" I find somehow intriguing. If you want to be influencer, you may want to show off your earnings, else people will not take you seriously.
And of course, showing off makes you instant target... if you do have a good/big stash.
But... I think that many are probably safe simply because their stash is not so big.. unless they pretend to have more than they have (which I think that's also common in the "influencer" business).
