Was PayPal ever a good option in the early days of exchanges in order to buy bitcoin? If someone wanted to buy a ton of bitcoin in early 2010, would PayPal have been the way to go to buy more than 1000 usd worth of bitcoin? Why did PayPal get a bad reputation then?
It's important to remember that PayPal is only a payment gateway, not a trading platform or an independent currency. Second, when Bitcoin emerged, there were no cryptocurrency trading platforms; all platforms were stock exchanges. Therefore, Bitcoin transactions were conducted peer-to-peer, and PayPal was used for these transactions. There's no doubt that many people have purchased Bitcoin from other people face to face or through a trusted third-part intermediary using PayPal. This possibility is very likely given that PayPal has not yet heard of Bitcoin and has not yet decided on its position.
