This whole thing is bringing back memories of Satoshi Dice. People, especially of the more Karen-esque type, were apoplectic about it but (after a time) I came to think of it as a net positive thing because A) it's wasn't a problem _due to system utilization at the time_, and B) it was a really great vehicle to induce discussion and development.
In my recent research, I've run across new-to-me faces and philosophies. That Uzi Wartharmer guy, for instance. Seems in a lot of ways the Erik Voorhees of the time. It actually seems to me that under the surface he is one of Bitcoin's more valuable contributors and perhaps deep down, a genuine 'patriot'. At the very least, he's pretty clued in from a system engineering level, and also pretty funny. Yes, he's clearly a degenerate spammer as well. I don't see them as mutually exclusive, but that's just me.
Satoshi Dice is the whole reason Dooglus built Just-Dice.com and centralized the dicing because the onchain spam was bothering him.
JD basically took over SD over one week.
Dooglus is a fucking legend.
