Sorry to hear about your health issues, but glad you're feeling better. Your experience shows how important is to have good ventilation when mining, especially with rigs that give a lot of heat.
Video cards are usually less demanding in terms of ventilation if they are not so hot and consume no more than 150 watts.
I would call this case rare, because I have heard of many miners that work in worse conditions.
But you should always be attentive to your health.
