I'm neutral, but we'll see. Maybe you're right, but i think Xabi Alonso knows what he wants. Trent is coming, and there still need to be a few more strong signings. Real is a big club you know yourself that anything can be expected from them, but above all, they always aim to be at the top. I agree that there will be a lot of strong teams focused on winning the Champions League, but we have to remember that Real is always one of the biggest contenders for the title.
Everyone assumes that Xabi will play 3-4-3 at Real Madrid too, but I am not so sure about that. With three defenders needed, Real do not have proper 3 defenders, certainly not any that has great feet, so they are not going to be great passers neither, they are true centre backs. So he may actually change his tactic here, sure Trent could handle the right side of it, and that may be enough, but unless they get a great defender/passer there, they are not going to have a decent 3-4-3 squad at their hands.
However, they have a great 4-4-2 if they want to, they have what it takes to do that and make that happen, they can put Vini and Mbappe up front, and that would allow them to be doing much better than a 3-4-3 strategy which they can't do right now.
