According to
Seth for Privacy, the removal wasn’t due to government pressure. The announcement came a few weeks after a user had lost thousands of dollars in XMR because their Trezor support was broken. Exodus was just not up to par when compared to a proper privacy focused wallet so they threw in the towel, rather than continue spending resources to develop an inferior product and dealing with constant complaints.
