It was indeed an excellent performance by Brighton yesterday, I thought that the game would end in a draw but to my greatest surprise they won the game. Liverpool have won the League competition already so the main reason why they were able to win is because Liverpool doesn't really have anything to lose at this point. Losing a game or two wouldn't hurt but they will try their best not to lose consistently
The nuance is that Brighton also had nothing to lose
They can't go higher in the standings, and if they fall to 9th place, the difference is small (there is none at all). But at the same time, Brighton were obviously more motivated. It's clear that Liverpool didn't play with their main squad, but that's their problem - Brighton deservedly won, and I miss the days when teams wanted to play even if it didn't matter in the tournament.
