In addition to what @BitMaxz mentioned about m/84'/0'/0', it's worth noting that even though Trezor Suite creates SegWit addresses by default, there's still a chance that your friend created a different type of account ^{[Legacy (m/44'/0'/0'), Legacy SegWit (m/49'/0'/0') or Taproot (m/86'/0'/0')]} and used a different type of address to receive his/her Bitcoin ^{[that might explain why there's no history (assuming that he/she didn't generate a new seed phrase)]}.
