Exactly, PSG started out the group stages phase poorly, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and PSG were among the teams that most of us least expected to qualify for the Rounds of 16 through play offs. When the competition started not too many people would have believed that these three teams will finish outside the top 8. I will still say it again, it's the game between PSG Vs Manchester City that really pronounced them for me and that was when I started supporting them this season in the competition.
If anyone just followed the performance of the teams in the group stage level minus looking at the opponents the teams faced, then they were totally wrong into thinking that the top teams would go very far in the tournament while those that went for play-offs didn't have much of the chance.
Maybe next time round, people will wake up and know that have 100% record in the group phase almost means nothing.
I still can't forget my Liverpool friend who made so much noise and even said they were in form. Of course they were topping their domestic league and still topped the champions league standings during the group stages. I told, Champions league is not your league, yes Liverpool will win the league but won't win the champions league, he argued that they will win both trophies because they are in form. After the draws and it was known Liverpool will meet PSG after the playoffs, I simply told him even before PSG played Brest FC that Liverpool will be dumped out of the champions league in Round of 16.
