If PSG fails to win the Champions League it will reduce Hakimi's chances of winning the award. A loss will put the Morrocan player in the same class as Victor Osimhen and Mohammed Salah, who both won League titles. Salah might have a slight edge considering that the English Premier League is highly rated than the Turkish and French League. But in my own view, Hakimi still stands a better chance of clinching the African Footballer of the Year since his club made it to the UCL finals.
Mohamed Salah is topping the list of best scorer by 5 goals margin from Newcastle Isak, since he is a forwarder. Liverpool won also big English Premier League title so he deserves this reward.
Victor Osimhen is in the same situation with Galatasaray in Turkish Super Lig which is way lower league than EPL. We cannot compare them.
Otherwise Hakimi is a defender and helping a lot the attack line, his team won Ligue 1 as usual and helping PSG to bring UEFA Champions League home will be a big achievement in his career and will be equal to Mohamed Salah or even better.
If you say that Victor oshimen is playing in Turkey and that the league is much smaller to the English premier League I will disagree with you oshimen is a top players and scoring more than thirty goals in a season in any league that a player places is not a small achievement and not to forget he went to Turkey in January oshimen is a top players to me there is no reason for comparison because both Salah and oshimen had a great performance this season individually
