It is certain that many gamblers lose in the long run in gambling... but spending $20 a day is excessive unless he is a gambler with a lot of money to spend in each session... I feel this is excessive.

Yeah it's a waste just for the sake of gambling? Is there no other way to spend $20? Those who have a small income are the ones who spend it every day.

Defeat makes for a positive experience? Unless your money is from extra income then spending 20% is still considered positive because you didn't lose all your money.
I agree, I find the argument completely overexaggerated and excessive. $20 a day is a major sum of money, unless you're earning $5,000 per month, in which is still a decent chunk of money. That's $600 per month, while the average wage here is about $1,000, so that's over half of your monthly salary. Unless you're swimming in money, spending $20 per day is excessive, just to get "a positive experience" or entertainment, whatever you call it. I understand that the OP is trying to come up with an estimate, but I doubt that the majority of us here work that way.

I'll gamble mostly on the weekends, mainly sports betting, if someone is gambling every single day and is losing money on average, then there's a problem, you can't deny that.
