Nottingham had been a surprise for this tournament specially in the early stage. It was a short term success and even if Nottingham had qualified for the champions league, they would not have been able to maintain the current performance at that stage. They might fail to retain their best players this pre season.
If Nottingham Forest did better a little bit and got a position in top five for playing in Champions League next season, they will possibly have similar problems like Girona in La Liga and Champions League this season. It's hard for a very small club like Nottingham Forest to keep their star players in their club after a successful season, and Girona failed to do it last summer then they played this season very bad.
Nottingham Forest in reality won't play in Champions League next season but this season is truly amazing and memorable for them. They will have many things to do in the summer and they must aim at a long term development even a next season won't be too good for them. If they can maintain their position in top 6 or 7 for some seasons, they might change their club quality and competitiveness entirely and in a more sustainable development way.
From EFL, three teams has qualified for the Premier League next season, Leeds, Burnley and Sheffield. These teams were in the EPL in at least once in the last three season and were relegated. So, not much expectations from there as well for new season. I'm expecting similar results next seasons, just the top ranking shuffled between the top teams.
Leeds United used to be one of most interesting underdogs in Premier League and it's good to see their return to Premier League. Seasons ago they also made impression with Bielsa as their head coach but after their financial crisis in 2000s, they have never returned to top positions in Premier League.
A few weeks ago I was talking about Nottingham, they are not a top team but they know how to give emotions, to everyone's surprise
they have given a good shake to the game.
I am really happy about it and I repeat that they have great potential, certainly with some right investment and commitment,
they could give a hard time to well-placed teams.
No Champions League for them is a good thing, they came close, but this way they have time to strengthen the team.
