Losing Xabi Alonso is huge deal for Leverkusen as he completely transformed club even leading them to unbeaten season. While they initially wanted Fabregas his decision to stay at Como led them to Erik ten Hag which is interesting move. Ten Hag brings strong record of developing players from his Ajax days but also challenges he faced at Manchester United so Leverkusen will need to see if his style fits their team and helps them continue their success.
And now, it's been officially confirmed Ten Hag signs the contract as new Leverkusen head coach to replace Xabi Alonso. The contract will last for 2 years, until June 2027.
And one of the reasons why it had to be Ten Hag even though he failed at Man United is because Leverkusen believes in his ability, just like he did at Ajax which dominated Dutch football from 2018 - 2022.
