It's a very nice observation and it's a very nice achievement ending almost two decades of trophyless seasons, but the thing, for as long as I can remember this is the first time I'm seeing Tottenham ending in such a position in the league since I started following football almost 20 years and these years I only saw Tottenham lift the league cup which isn't up to the standards of the Europa league. In all these years that Tottenham were an average team, they won nothing in all of these 16 years that they ended up in a better position in the league. This time around they were poor in the league but strong in the competition. Sometimes success do come from what we perceive as failure.
Everyone has their own reasons and Tottenham are indeed no longer focused on the Premier League and they have defeated all their focus and energy for the Europa League competition, it happened over time when they saw the possibilities for them to achieve and it was quite successful for Tottenham, the Europa League Trophy is very prestigious and they won it of course because it will make the mentality and spirit of this team much more developed in the next season after the long wait has finally been achieved.
Congratulations to Tottenham Hotspur once again for lifting this year uefa Europa league title because it hasn't been a bed of roses in this past seventeen trophy less years, I totally agree with you here that they knew that their chances in the English premier league was very small so they decide to go for the uefa Europa league title, which was a shortcut to qualify for the uefa champions league, though it would have been disastrous if they had missed out, just like Manchester united, and the cost would really had been huge, but due to the fact that their target was achieved, their season was a success in my own opinion.
It's sad that Manchester united lost the Europa league after all the efforts they put in to win. People say that Tottenham don't deserve the trophy but my thoughts on this are quite the opposite. They also worked hard to get to where they are and I think it was well deserved. Manchester united lacks consistency, I had a feeling that they might not win because history clearly shows that Tottenham has always had the upper hand
