But you are right that if the format is changed, then there is a possibility of big teams falling into the relegation zone. This season we have seen giant teams like Tottenham and Manchester United perform badly. United were in 15th place in the points table and Tottenham were in 17th place.

This season the teams fought hard to qualify for the Champions League. Next season teams like United, Tottenham and West Ham will have to strengthen their squads. These three teams have performed very badly this season.

For now everything remains unchanged and if anything new comes into effect it will not be earlier than next year. So the upcoming season stays as it was the format remains the same and I think there is no point in discussing it yet. Even if you look at how the new format affected the Champions League in my opinion it got worse. Because the weaker teams have completely lost any chance of getting out of the group. They almost always stay at the bottom of the table and I assume they will just start losing interest in this tournament.
