Yamal is a very talented player and it is not surprising that Barcelona wants to extend his contract. I am not even surprised that they offered him a new contract for 5 years because the player is very young, only 17 years old. Young players are less prone to injuries and more motivated to get results so of course Barcelona will want to keep such a player in their team for as long as possible. Will Barcelona be focused on bringing in some new players this summer or will their main goal be to keep those who are already in the team?
One thing that worries me about Yamal is injury risk. Because we have seen him do very well, but todays world is super fast, and he plays accordingly, which is awesome for him and makes him look awesome, but that also means he pushes his body to maximum as well. If they do that then they could end up with more often injuries than players back in the day.

And if Yamal misses a whole season, or if he becomes injury prone that he misses many games for many seasons, then his career would be much worse. If none of that happens, and he is barely ever injured, then we have never seen a 17 year old who is as good as him. Even Messi and Ronaldo wasn't this good at 17 years old, Messi was still at La Masia at 17, and Ronaldo wasn't even playing at Sporting at 17, barely getting any minutes if he ever could. So Yamal is ahead of both of them already.
