There's this thread I was just telling someone how this can go, there are some gamblers that set unrealistic target, knowing fully well it's gambling and nothing is guaranteed, they still set unrealistic target which can caused them to lose more than expected. Setting target is good but knowing that nothing is guaranteed in gambling is also very important so that when you see that you have tried your luck 2 or more times and you target is not met, you will have to stop.
Yes, that's what I'm always trying to say. All gamblers should keep this golden rule in mind: "Nothing is guaranteed in gambling." This is why it's called gambling in the first place, because it relies on luck and nothing is guaranteed.

Therefore, setting goals in gambling is completely illogical. How can you set goals for something that is not guaranteed and whose outcomes cannot be controlled? I suspect this is one of the main reasons why gamblers lose control, become addicted, and are unable to stop despite all the losses, because they set a goal and believe they can achieve it.
