Previously, the IMF asked El Salvador to amend some laws related to bitcoin and as a result, bitcoin is no longer a mandatory payment method but instead an optional payment method in the country.
According to the latest news, the IMF will disburse the first $120 million of the loan package that the two parties previously agreed on, but on the condition that El Salvador must stop buying more bitcoin and must stop using the Chivo wallet by the end of July. And under pressure from the IMF, El Salvador's bitcoin office has reaffirmed that the country remains committed to "buying 1 BTC per day."
