Chelsea clearly was the stronger team. It was the last season result that made Chelsea play the conference league. The current team is built up for Champions league.
Chelsea as a team kept improving throughout the season both in the premier league and conference cup. Their premier league start was not as spectacular. They were playing draws with Manchester United and losing against Fulham. Even in the Quarterfinals of Conference League, they lost a leg against a much weaker team but won on aggregate. But reaching to finals, they have improved much, qualifying for champions league through premier league and winning the conference cup to have a title on their name.
I think Chelsea understands what it means not to fumble at important games. They’ve been a lot more unstable in terms of performances in this season. So many ups and downs in the premier league and it wasn’t limited to that even.
Everything just clicked for them in this conference cup finals and Real Betis having to score early brought them to the point where they realize, they don’t get to give many chances or miss many chances in the game. It was a shocker how they came scoring up to 4 goals and made the game not so a difficult match like we anticipated. A performance we hope they could keep up with.
