They were playing draws with Manchester United and losing against Fulham. Even in the Quarterfinals of Conference League, they lost a leg against a much weaker team but won on aggregate. But reaching to finals, they have improved much, qualifying for champions league through premier league and winning the conference cup to have a title on their name.
Chelsea even playing in the conference league was a let down to the team, Chelsea has grown above such level of playing in the conference league it would have been a different case playing in the UEFA Europa league rather than playing in the conference so it would have also be a thing of disgrace if they failed to win the conference league they were the favorite to win the competition as there was no strong team to compete with Chelsea in that league, so winning the conference league was a surprise thing to me.
