As for Leverkuen, appointing Ten Hag as a new coach is their best. Calling someone who won two trophies on two season as the worst option is not acceptable.
What about appointing someone who never won a trophy before. Will you call it as a terrible option?
Only FA Cup trophies... Yeah it is still better than Amorim's work at Manchester United so far. But he was still not able to meet the expectations (
despite spending tons of money on transfers). The only way for me to like him at Leverkusen is to bring back his Ajax days.

I wouldn't call Fabregas a terrible option. After watching him at Como this season, I have hopes about him. He can rise like Xabi Alonso at a bigger team. Young managers are in demand. As far as I know, Leverkusen offered him the job before reaching ten Hag. But he refused to sign for them.
