Im surprised that it work considering on how many have been victimized on this, but the main question on my mind is on how the heck will someone copy out the address from history of transactions? rather than on copying directly with that main address written above?

Yeah! it does work especially on those who are fond of using such methods of copying addresses probably because they are just lazy to do it the right way and as well the newbies... That should already answer your question as well.
Also, a simple fix is just freezing the dust amounts if you ever find one sent to you , most reputable wallets has such feature
