Let's see if a club like Leverkusen can still be a competitor to Bayern Munich after Leverkusen is in the hands of Erik Ten Hag. No one knows for sure until everything is proven, and I will not praise Erik Ten Hag too much for a career that he has not been able to prove at Leverkusen. The Bundesliga is a different story and, but I am quite happy that he is back as a coach and gets a famous club.
Xabi Alonso + Leverkusen =

Ten Hag + Leverkusen =

I'm sure I'm not the only one doubting Ten Hag. We can realistically look at Ten Hag's time with Man United with some professional players and it ended badly. Meanwhile, Leverkusen don't have top players like Man United who can put pressure on Ten Hag. I find it strange why Leverkusen's management chose Ten Hag as Alonso's replacement. There are many coaches who are more modern than Ten Hag.
We cannot pass verdict on Ten Hag's new job just yet just because he failed at Manchester United, let me take our minds back that he was successful with Ajax back in the years before United. This is a new team, a different league and different set of players so expect anything even success. There is also the argument that the so called bad players have become good in their new clubs since they left Manchester United so it’s possible that Ten Hag could be effective at Leverkesun.
