I just came across an interesting article about "Address Poisoning Attack" and I thought it was worth sharing.
These types of scams can definitely be tricky, so it is very important to stay informed to keep our funds safe.
https://cointelegraph.com/news/address-poisoning-attacks-in-cryptoNote; Address Poisoning attack invole tampering with cryptocurrency address, exploiting human error rather than vulnerabilities in blockchain security.
I have always had the consciousness to verify the address I intend to deposit Bitcoin to before proceeding with the transaction. My reasons for doing this are usually to ensure that there are no human errors on my side, where I might mistakenly delete or add characters to the wallet address. I had not thought about the fact that addresses can be altered. Maybe I unknowingly escaped falling victim during those times when I cross-checked my address to be sure I didn't make mistakes. This will prompt me to be more vigilant.
