Don't buy refurbished, buy a new one. You can get a great machine for a couple hundred bucks for this purpose.
If it is a computer, a laptop, you can buy a refurbished one but make sure to wipe out the current OS, and reinstall the OS by yourself. The computer or laptop will be clean after OS reinstallation and no issue at all.
It's different with buying a hardware wallet, make sure you buy a new one, not a refurbished one.
