I only tried using the web wallet, but if you are using the mobile app version, it should be similar. There is a cog icon that should take you to the wallet management section and from there you will see an option to view the private key to your TRX wallet. Import the private key found here instead of the mnemonic into Trust Wallet and it will generate the same address.
I did exactly this and it gave me a totally different wallet with zero balance. i copied and pasted it.Im not really sure whats going on here, but if you really used a private key and copied and pasted correctly, its practically impossible to get a different wallet address. Every private key is tied to one unique public key, and that means one unique address.
