My biggest advice to a poor person would be to stop being a crybaby and instead focus on themselves. Lots of people blame governments for their poor conditions and while at some point that's true, that's not the answer. People don't come into governance to work for you and make you rich, they come to empower themselves, their friends and relatives.
When you stop blaming the government and instead focus on yourself, you'll become rich slowly and emerge from poverty. Also, I'd say that smart work is appreciated but hard work - not. In order to be successful, you have to work smart. Working for just 1-2 hours, even if you work smart, is not enough. You have to work very hard, but smart, and then you'll succeed in life.
Lots of my friends entered the university to become lawyers, doctors, managers and so on but I chose a different path, I followed IT professions and today I earn significantly more than any of them. I call this smart work. While they were reading books all the time, I chose IT because it's the future and a less saturated niche, while the demand is high and it's only growing.
Regardless of professional background and so on, to become rich, one must be observant in seeing opportunities and then utilizing the momentum well. In my opinion, nowadays, just by learning from the Internet, everyone can maximize their potential. It is a privilege that can be accessed without much effort, but most people today are too negligent so they forget to learn to develop their skills.
Never expect much from the Government, they have no obligation to change the fate of an individual, there are many things they think about. The more experience, a person will find a pattern to work smart, and people who work smart usually will not involve the Government in their business, let alone expect something from them.
