Funny enough this is virtually the taught that actually draw almost all active gamblers to gambling especially if you are in the area where gambling is seen as a common thing. It's a sad truth but it is what it is and even with all the advice in the whole world, I can bet that this taught can't be changed in the mentality of a very large population.
You're right gambling is a part of many people's character and there's nothing you can do about it.
Many are gamblers by nature and it is useless to go against instincts, you need to understand your weaknesses and limit yourself.
Gambling itself has existed as long as mankind has existed from the gladiators of ancient Rome and chariot racing to online bookmakers and slot machines.
A player will always find a place to play and it seems to me that if a person gives himself an account and plays with an understanding of the risks and not on the last money, it is the best option.
The worst thing is to play in an unsteady state of consciousness, drunk or trying to win back after losing and if you do not make such gross mistakes, gambling will be limited to your financial risks and will be similar to trading or buying shares, which in fact are also gambling, only legalized.
I had to pick out on particular statements you made, which makes lots of sense to me, (understanding of the risks and not on the last money) one thing I understand is that no matter how bad people say gambling is it would never stop gambling from existing cause life itself is full of risks just that some people forget to manage the risks, they'll just take unnecessary risks without thinking about the consequences, stuffs like gambling when they're broke, gambling with the wrong state of mind, trying to beat the house, those are the kind of stuffs that caused many gambling to go broke, get addicted and make others feel that gambling is bad. Every mistake has a consequence and the consequences of not gambling responsibly or applying risk management is addiction, and we all know what gambling addiction can lead to.
