From my experience so far gambling is never something one should treat as Job and occupation because you can't win for long term, so the best is to have the fun with it instead of taking it as a place you to gain a permanent money or a regular money.
To succeed for Long term you have to over look the point that you need quick earnings, and focused on the Joy or fun you drive while gambling.
Many people have lost their life savings at the name of trying to win long run in gambling while others has lost properties and even indebted to other people due to their eagerness to achieve their certain desires of a specific amount from gambling.
If you treat gambling as entertainment, it will never lead to a situation where you start playing with money meant for something else, or using your savings, let alone borrowing money for gambling, because that can already be considered an addiction. I don't think this has a direct connection to losing your job, unless your employer finds out about this addiction and it starts affecting your work as well. It’s important to be able to separate work, family, and gambling so that they never overlap and have no negative impact on each other.
