Yes, that's just one strategy to make us think more clearly and keep us from losing control because we force ourselves to gamble because in the end there is nothing that can beat the casino when we do gamble.

Our position as players is only as consumers in this case where the bookies and sites are distributors who always benefit and we cannot deny that fact at any time so there is no need to think as if we can beat the casino because in any form we cannot do that.
We will never be able to match the casino even if we win, will the casino lose? of course not because they only transfer losses from other gamblers for us to get and they will still profit from what they do because they are businessmen and we are only objects that generate profits from them selling gambling services.
Those who are addicted to gambling won't be able to control (maximum of the gambler) until they have funds or are able to collect funds from others. But those who can control them might be able to control loss and might be able to earn money. But there is no math, and I don't think there will be any math that can beat the casino; as always, the casino will be the winner in the long run.

In the long run the casino would always end up winning even though the gambler seems to be making a lot of Profit at first. One thing that I have observed is, as long as you are actively gambling on casino games you are going to lose more than what you win, even risk management can help you elude losses, that's why it's said that no one can beat the casino. But sports betting has a slight difference compared to casino games
