We can't know or say how people want to spend their money.
Maybe for them, spending it like this to have fun gives them that emotional boost that is good for their mood and spirits.
Of course, when it becomes a problem there are no excuses that hold up.
We can't know, nor can we force someone to do what is best according to us, but we can only give them the best idea and hope that they will consider our suggestions. In my view, I would never spend an excessive amount of money for my own happiness when there are people who need it very badly. I will change my hobby and way of finding happiness and give that excessive money to those who need it because the money I am spending excessively is just waste, but if I put it towards improving someone's life, it would be my investment, which will come from someone else.
