Has anyone gotten arrested for what happened with LIBRA? We have yet to get a full overview of who is to blame?
- CIRCLE can freeze any wallet whenever they want.
All stablecoins are like this and almost all tokens on these alleged decentralized chains. But in reality, they are much worse than banks. Circle can freeze you without a real reason, and so can any token issuer. The only reason why they do not do it is to preserve the trust in their token, but that is not a good thing as long as they can do it whenever they want. Maybe you can fight it legally afterwards, but you can't call any of this even a bit decentralized.
As far as I know, nobody has gotten arrested in Argentina for the scandal, though, there are people living in the United States which are pushing some process forwards to sue the company which is behind the project, they are not going after Milie directly, because it would be very difficult for them to successfully procedure a sitting president in a foreign country.
Honestly, if Argentina was a more functioning country then it is today, I would have expected to see people arrested in the same week the scandal took place and we would have seen an open trial against those behind the project, and perhaps people in the Senate trying to remove the president from power, but nothing of that is going on.
