Currently the English league teams participating in the club world cup competition are Chelsea and Manchester City. I personally don't know for sure whether these two teams can do much or not in this competition. But if we look at the standings, Chelsea will most likely be able to qualify from the group stage easily. Because Chelsea is currently in group D with 3 other teams, namely Leon, Flamengo, and Tunis. I think the quality of the three teams is below Chelsea, so with that I think Chelsea will easily qualify from the group stage.
But if Manchester City, I think this team will have more difficulty qualifying for the next round. Because Manchester City's is in group G with Juventus, Al ain, and Wydad AC. So with that Manchester City's will likely have a little difficulty qualifying from the group stage. Because Juventus and Al Ain in my opinion will be a very big obstacle for Manchester City's. Therefore, hoping for Chelsea as a representative of the English league I think is the right choice. because Chelsea basically looks more convincing at this time.
Everyone says Chelsea have it easy, but remember: Flamengo is basically Brazilian Real Madrid in these continental comps, and LAFC have World Cup winners like Giroud and Lloris running around with nothing to lose. Plus they are playing at home, in their own climate. Those “easy” games can get weird, especially when you add in jet lag, humidity, and squads that have barely had time to recover from a European season. Chelsea finished strong, sure, but their squad is also one of the youngest in the tournament. Sometimes that creates an edge, sometimes it means wild nerves
City might look shakier than usual, but if there is one thing Guardiola teams do, it is find their rhythm in a tournament setting. Juventus are rebuilding, Al Ain are dangerous on the break, and Wydad will kick you for ninety minutes if they have to, but does anyone seriously want to be the one betting against a team with Haaland on a mission? The road looks bumpier for City, no question, but this new format is built for chaos, not “on-paper” logic. If anything, both English sides are in for a rougher ride than people expect. Nobody is coasting here
