As we have seen, a lot of these teams are indeed attracting "foreign" players to their team. That's one strategy though. And any team can employ such strategy. It is actually quite old strategy. Just look at the PH football team. Look at the athletes and for sure, you would say, they are not pure Filipinos by blood - Just for comparison purposes - look at the features of Pacquiao as he is the representation of a pure Filipino vs the features of these below athletes. So yes, such strategy has been used by most Asian teams. They import foreign blood to strengthen their team.
This is also the case on most national teams in Africa. They have been filled with foreign players will African heritage. This might be because these players are more skillful and experienced. They were trained with good facilities and have been exposed to quality teams and players. Some of them play in good clubs abroad that cannot be compared with our local leagues. Our local leagues are not well funded and lack infrastructure, which is why they don't produce good players like before. So coaches will simply use this half breed players.
It's something that happens everywhere, not only in Asia or Africa: if we look at Europe for example there are countries like France where the majority of the players have a foreign background, sure, they were usually born in France, but the parents are from somewhere else. Italy historically always had a few Argentinians; Germany has several players with a clear Turkish or Polish background, and so on. Becoming an international player means getting more exposure so for many players the national teams are almost seen like a club: you have 2 or even 3 citizenships and you choose what is better for you. The world is always more and more globalized, and so is football. Do I like? So and so, I'd like to see more attachment to the national teams, they represent a whole country at the end.
