I just saw that some minutes and I was surprised. There was speculation that he was hired to bring a trophy or make the team qualify for the Champions League and then resign and now that his job is done, he have to honour the promised of the contract. If that's was the agreement then there isn't anything bad. However, I don't think it's really bad if they extended the contract by another year so he can make the club go places in the Champions League.
It's possible that the team is trying to take another advantage by signing another manager that can do better than him, it's been long they qualify for the Champions League, perhaps they don't want to waste this opportunity that's why they are bringing another person to do better. If that's what they want, it's all good, he is leaving the club with good legacy and he is going to be remembered for bringing a trophy after years of nothing for the club.
